Hey all!
So a few weeks ago I did my first open water swim. We got together as a team and swam in the Hudson River. We did about a 1/2 mile that day. And yes, it definitely gave me an idea of what I was getting into. When I finished my half and was coming back to shore, a young lady approached me (and my swim partner) to let us know she'd been watching and wished she could swim with us. Her name is Yolanda. She's our 'honorary team member', a cancer survivor. I thought it was great to put a face to the work we were doing. Our swim will help research that will benefit her and others.
Since then I've been working with a swim coach at my gym. We are doing the basics - endurance and technique. She has me doing this thing called a ladder in which each set increases in yardage...which means an increase in laps. It's WORK.
On the not so bright note, fundraising isn't going as well as training. I'm almost worried that I would have done all this work and then will have to drop out because I couldn't meat the individual goal, $1200.00. It really isn't THAT much if everyone pitches in. I am nowhere near that number and well, time is running out. So, please give me a hand with this. A dollar, $5, whatever you can do at the time helps. Spread the word to your co-workers and other friends and family. It all adds up in the end.
